M.D. vs. D.O.

What is the difference between an M.D. and a D.O. ?

An M.D. (Medical Doctor) and a D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathy) are both licensed to practice medicine and prescribe medication.

The main difference is that the D.O. is specially trained to perform osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT).

In other words, D.O.’s use their hands to diagnose injury and illness and to encourage natural healing.

The methods of a D.O. and M.D. are different, however they can bring an added dimension to your family’s health care.
